What is the difference between an unheated conservatory and a heated conservatory?
A heated conservatory is heat-insulated and double-glazed according to the current standards. Our unheated conservatory is deliberately designed to be closer to outdoors than indoors. It normally causes less work and fewer costs than a heated conservatory and nonetheless makes it possible to use the patio and garden for considerably longer than would be possible with pergola awnings or patio roofs. You can move the sliding elements flexibly in the unheated conservatory and therefore decide each day anew whether you wish to feel more outside or inside. The aluminium and glass elements differ from those in a living room conservatory: air-permeable and consciously not insulated. Nonetheless, the Glasoase® provides protection against the elements. No matter whether small or large, the customised elements of the Glasoase® are adapted to the structural conditions of your building and your patio. However, the foundation must be suitable for the stability of the unheated conservatory under load.
Important: Although the construction of the Glasoase® denotes an extension measure, it does not always require a building permit. The specifications vary from federal state to federal state. However, even in case of a building permit, no legislative requirements pertaining to energy (EnEV [Energy Saving Ordinance]) need be complied with. What must be observed when constructing an unheated conservatory?
The Glasoase® is a special type of conservatory and consciously connected to the outside world. These items should be clear to you prior to taking your decision:
- The Glasoase® cannot be heated without high heat loss.
- The unheated conservatory offers no full insulation, in particular in case of driving rain from the side.
- It is not fully protected against draughts.
- An unheated conservatory provides no frost protection.
- The Glasoase® cannot guarantee 100% protection against insects.
